Short Term vs. Long Term

The best place to begin when looking for a health insurance plan is to identify you needs. One of the most important things to consider is the length of coverage you require.

Short Term: If you are a student needing insurance for just a semester, or a recent graduate looking for work, a short term plan usually is the best route to take. They can save you money and are easier to apply for. We offer short term plans ranging from 30 - 185 days with no set start or end dates! You can customize the plan to fit your needs.

Long Term: On the other hand, if you are going to be around for a while, a long term plan is going to be your best bet. There are more options included in long term plans so you can get the coverage you need and well as a comfortable price. We offer long term plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield, IHC, and Altius.

Which Insurance Carrier to I choose?
Although most carriers provide excellent coverage, and offer comparable prices, there can be slight differences. In most cases you would would not notices the difference in coverage. However, if you would like to learn more about what each company offers, feel free to drop by our office and we can give you additional details.

What Options do I have?

There are several options you may want to consider when choosing a plan. These include office co-pays, prescription CO-pays, payment options, and medical deductible.

Office Co-pay: This is a great option to have if you visit the doctor more than once or twice a year. Rather than pay the entire doctor bill, or paying your deductible, all you do is pay $15 for each office visit. This can save a lot of money in the long run.

Prescription CO-pay: This option is similar to an office CO-pay Rather than pay high prescription costs, you only pay $5 or a small percentage of the cost.

Payment Options: Most people tend to have their monthly premium deducted automatically from their checking account every month. However, monthly billing is also available in some cases.

How do deductibles work?
A medical deductible is the amount that you are required to pay in case of medical treatment each year. A common amount is $500, although we we options ranging from $0 to $2500. For example if you visit the hospital, you would be required to pay your deductible. After that the insurance company will pay 80% of all medical costs and you will pay the remaining 20%. Once you have spent your Out-of-Pocket Maximum (this is usually ranges from $2000 to $4000) the insurance company will cover 100% of the remaining costs.
What do I need for the application?
Applications are simple to fill out. Just stop by our office and we'll help you through the process. You will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire and medical history. It is helpful if you bring along your Social Security Number, any current insurance information and a personal check. Medical records are not necessary, but depending on the applicant, they may be requested at a later date.
